MANAGEMENT INTELLIGENCE · 4 min read

From a daily report to a useful decision

Give management the numbers, the context, and a clear place to focus.

Agree on the meaning of each measure

Before combining data, define what counts as a conversation, a qualified lead, or a resolved ticket. Different departments may use different definitions. Consistent definitions make comparisons useful and help avoid misleading summaries.

Separate observation from explanation

A rise in complaints is an observation. A claim about its cause needs supporting evidence. A useful summary identifies the relevant period and operational changes, labels uncertainty, and lets management inspect the underlying records.

Surface exceptions with enough context

Highlight meaningful changes against an agreed baseline. Include the scale, timing, and affected process so an owner can investigate. Too many low-value alerts make important signals harder to see.

Connect each report to a decision

Ask who uses the report, when they need it, and what they can do with it. Daily operational summaries and weekly management reviews serve different purposes. Design the format, delivery schedule, and level of detail around those decisions.
